Funny Thing… I booked my first Equity show!
I am so excited to mention that I have officially booked my first equity debut in A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum with North Coast Repertory Theater in Solana Beach, California. I have heard the best things about this city, and cannot wait to explore the many restaurants and beaches that it has to offer! If you know about any dance classes, or workout classes that you’re obsessed with let me know!
Becoming equity has taken me longer than most. It began back in college at the University of Arizona (Go Wildcats!) with my first equity points coming from an Opera with Arizona Opera in Pheonix, and then Great Gatsby a play, with Arizona Theater Company. After graduating from college I came out to LA to pursue my dancing dreams and while auditioning for commercial work, I booked Addams Family, Beauty and The Beast and Finally from Spamalot all musicals with 3-D Theatricals. With these shows and my hard work I finally gained my equity card and it became offish! Now, cutting lines, getting into the room first and getting discounts on classes I am an official equity member and I am so proud.
Sometimes your first year as an equity member can limit the jobs you book and other times not. I had to wait about 4 months before booking my first job as an equity actor and was super excited that it was a summer stock production with North Coast Rep!
I will be playing Tintinabula, in the production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Tintinabula, which is Latin for bells, is the bell-wearing dancing courtesan. So obvi, I’m already obsessed! Played by Helen Funai in the movie, she is very flirtatious and loud and it is going to be a wonderful role.
I head down to San Diego tomorrow and we open mid July and wrap middle of August. Being in San Diego for the Summer is going to be a blast and the show is hysterical! I cannot wait to start!!!
Let me know your fave dance spots in Del Mar! I need to stay in class
