If you haven’t ever heard of the New York Times best seller The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod, I would highly recommend googling, and reading it. LIKE NOW! k. It is a short simple life changing book that guides the reader into simple morning adjustments to make your day and life the best it can be. I am now on week 2 waking up between 515 and 530 every morning. Even weekends and it has been incredible.
Here is Hal’s routine and I’ve adjusted it slightly for myself
But first coffee..
10 minutes each
515am alarm goes off to my favorite song right now Flower child by Coleman Hell
Pop out of bed, make my bed and get into shower. The shower is a way for me to really wake up and prime my day. I do not always wash my hair and I do not necessarily do all of the things but it wakes me up and I get to brush teeth, wash my face and it eliminates really any chance to pop back into my comfy bed
525 make coffee / do dishes or anything that needs cleaning in kitchen while coffee is brewing. Open BonHoeffer and read daily scripture. I am religious and I like to start my day with the word or with some mantra and direction for my day. This changes, sometimes its a Gabby Bernstein book, or another self help fave Return to Love. Anything that isn’t too heavy, but also inspiring at the same time!
535 meditation – I’m a huge fan of kundalini meditation . It it usually guided and has great music and lights me uppppp ( these are usually longer than 10 minutes)
555 affirmations- I’m still trying to find the best affirmations for me and I am kinda new to this. Currently googling affirmations that I am currently seeking ie. more confidence, abundance, love, dream job, money, success, happiness, dream body, organization, accomplishing my goals
6 scribing/journaling- I’ve been focus wheeling, daily pages, free writing whatever has come to my mind and I’m really enjoying this time also this is usually by my second cup (or third let’s be honest) and I’m feeling good and really awake
Now I know my steps are in a different order and not all of the same steps that Hal teaches in his book, but I have figured out that my order works for me and has really helped my day. As a dancer and fitness instructor the first thing I do at “work” is often a plank with my clients so I do not implement (or at least not yet) any excercise in my miracle morning. I may stretch or roll out if I am sore but in general my workout is after my miracle morning habits.
By 6am I have usually showered, meditated, done my daily pages, affirmations and feel ready for my day. This gives me time to check my emails, catch up on any work that hadn’t done the night before or simply just chill until work. I am able to start the day prepared and ready without any feeling of rush or anxiety. It really has been awesome!
What are your morning rituals?!
