There is nothing better than reading a great book by the pool or by your window AC unit. Currently in LA it is 96 degrees and the main thing getting me by is homemade Froze and a great book! Here is what I have been reading
Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I cannot stop carrying this book everywhere I go! Summary: For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life–until the unthinkable happens.
Atomic Habits by James Clear. My mornings, my life, the daily tasks that you sometimes put off are all easier because of this book. Truly life changing for me. I may read this over again each summer
Daisy Jones & The Six by (my fave) Taylor Jenkins Reid. Reese is going to make it into a show. This book takes you into the lives of the rich and famous rock stars in Hollywood and paints the beautiful disaster of the rock and roll life.
The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin. Kinda sad, super fast read and made me wonder….would you want to know when your last day on earth was?
From The Corner of The Oval by Beck Dorey-Stein. FREAKING AMAZING. Obama’s stenographer who traveled around the globe on air force one. So beautifully written. Relatable. Funny.
Next Level Basic by Stassi Schroeder. We share a last name so I felt obligated. Also it is summer so you are allowed to read silly girly books that make you feel good about yourself. Super fast read and some funny stories!
The Second Circle by Patsy Rodenburg. Was recommended from an acting teacher in Los Angeles and found it applicable to both the acting and audition process but also to life in general. Super fast read and would definitely recommend for anyone living and auditioning in LA.
All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin. Is it even Summer without a cheesy beautiful teenage love story? I think not. Read this is one day. Could not put it down. My mom and I cried laughed and loved sharing this story with each other. Highly recommend reading this with a friend of two!
